5 voordelen van een e-reader

Ondanks de digitale revolutie is het lezen van een “ouderwets” boek nog altijd populair, maar heeft ook op dat gebied de tijd niet stilgezeten. E-readers zijn als alternatief voor een boek van echt papier in het begin nogal bekritiseerd door boekfanaten en kwam dat door het idee dat er heerste dat er inbreuk gepleegd zou worden op de leeservaring en het gevoel dat een boek in de handen nou geeft. Gelukkig zijn er tal van voordelen op te noemen waartegen geen echt boek van papier op kan:

  1. Loop met je hele collectie rond: op een e-reader is het mogelijk tientallen boeken digitaal op te slaan en heb jij dus jouw favoriet boek wel altijd bij de hand. Dat is vooral handig wanneer je op reis bent en je alles digitaal mee kunt nemen. Geen gesjouw met zware boeken dus en kan de grote opslagcapaciteit ook worden gebruikt om andere bestanden op te slaan. Uitbreiding van het geheugen middels een externe kaart maakt het nog eenvoudiger om er al jouw boeken en documenten op te slaan en kan de kaart ook gebruikt worden om de bestanden te bekijken op andere apparaten zoals een laptop.
  2. Veel instellingen mogelijk: waar een boek statisch is en er geen veranderingen aangebracht kunnen worden, is dat bij een e-reader gelukkig niet het geval. Een goed voorbeeld is de leesbaarheid waarbij de lettergrootte aangepast kan worden. Zo wordt het lezen onder alle omstandigheden aangenaam gemaakt. Ook in het donker lees je normaal door en hoef je niemand te storen door het licht aan te maken. E-readers worden daarom ook aanbevolen voor degenen die wat moeite hebben met lezen en kan de leesbaarheid ingesteld worden naar de persoonlijke voorkeur.
  3. Toegang tot het internet: er zijn op het internet een groot aantal boeken en verhalen te vinden en kunnen deze gelijk op de e reader worden opgeslagen. Zo ben je gelijk op de hoogte van de laatste publicaties en kun je die overal ook bekijken. Je hebt bij het lezen dan ook de optie om via de e-reader jouw favoriete liedjes te beluisteren. Ook maakt de internet connectie het mogelijk om gelijk jouw berichten te checken en bieden sommige e-readers de mogelijkheid om teksten op te stellen en te verwerken.
  4. Goedkoper dan een laptop: alle bovengenoemde voordelen zijn ook te halen uit bijvoorbeeld een laptop, maar kost een e-reader wel een stuk minder. Een dure laptop neemt trouwens ook meer ruimte in beslag terwijl de e-reader overal wel in past en met gemak overal naartoe mee te nemen is. Bovendien is de kans op diefstal veel kleiner en is de schade beperkt indien dat toch onverhoopt plaats zou vinden. Het prijsvoordeel wordt nog groter indien je beseft dat een moderne e-reader met tal van functies komt die het gebruik van een laptop alleen voor bijzondere gevallen nodig zal maken.
  5. Optie tot voorlezen: er is speciale voorleessoftware te koop die het mogelijk maakt om elke tekst voor te laten lezen. Dit betekent dat je na een lange dag lekker kunt ontspannen met jouw e-reader zonder dat je het verhaal zelf hoeft te lezen. Doe dat nou maar eens na bij een boek!

Met een e-reader is het eenvoudig om al jouw leesmateriaal digitaal op te slaan en altijd bij de hand te hebben. Geen stapels boeken meer dus die overal verspreidt liggen, maar een geordend systeem op de e-reader waarbij je ook nog de mogelijkheid hebt om gelijk op het internet op zoek te gaan naar nog meer leesvoer. Waar de eerste e-readers uitsluitend bedoeld waren om tekst op te kunnen slaan, is dat niet meer het geval en kunnen er nu een groot aantal bestandstypen op worden opgeslagen. De e-reader is dus een veelzijdig apparaatje dat zeker niet alleen van toepassing zal zijn op het lezen van boeken en documenten ,maar ook voor het afspelen van muziek en het downloaden van bestanden.
